On September 4 the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy welcomed 31 new police officers who will serve with 10 different law enforcement agencies in the Finger Lakes region. The officers represent the Canandaigua Police Department, Geneseo Police Department, Geneva Police Department, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Newark Police Department, Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Seneca Falls Police Department, Waterloo Police Department, and the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
The graduates completed over 1,200 hours of instruction, including practical exercises, role-playing scenarios, and field training, in a program authorized by the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services. The training commenced on February 12, 2024, and culminated in a ceremony sponsored by Finger Lakes Community College and CMAC.
The class, which chose the name “The New Standard,” now joins the ranks of law enforcement officers serving communities across the Finger Lakes region.
