A Keuka Park resident has been charged with falsely reporting a mass shooting at a retail location in the Town of Hopewell. Cameron Manley, 21, was arrested on Oct. 2 following an investigation into the incident, which occurred on Nov. 24, 2023.
According to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office, Manley’s false report triggered an emergency response to the alleged shooting, which was later determined to have never occurred. Authorities from both the Penn Yan Police Department and the Yates County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
Manley was charged with falsely reporting an incident in the third degree and was issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to address the charges.
