Inter star Nicolo Barella will not take part in the upcoming international friendly between Italy and Turkey.
The 27-year-old midfielder is part of Luciano Spalletti’s 30-man preliminary Azzurri squad ahead of the upcoming European Championship and is expected to play a leading role at the tournament, having shined for the Nerazzurri this term.
Italy will face Turkey in a friendly this evening before facing Bosnia on June 9th. The Azzurri’s Euro 2024 campaign kicks off in Germany against Albania on the 15th and they’ll face Spain on the 20th before closing out the group stage against Croatia on the 24th.
Barella injury scare
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Barella will not be available for Italy’s coming friendly with Turkey, having suffered a minor muscle strain during the recent training work at Coverciano. He underwent a round of medical tests which ruled out any serious issues.
The Inter midfielder will be closely monitored by the Azzurri staff over the coming days and no risks will be taken in the next friendly against Bosnia should there be any doubts.
