Simu Liu Says He Is Working To Make The Sleeping Dogs Movie Happen (www.psu.com)

For years,

tried to make his dream of a Sleeping Dogs film adaptation a reality, and only recently did he announce that he’d given up on the project.

Now however it looks like Simu Liu, the Canadian actor who is best known for his role as Marvel character Shang Chi, is picking up the baton. In a post on X, Liu said that he is “working with the rights holders to bring Sleeping Dogs to the big screen.”

Liu has always been vocal about his love for gaming, so it’s no surprise that Sleeping Dogs is a game that’s been on his radar for a while. In a separate post he highlights two of Sleeping Dog’s key characters, Winston and Jackie, and their narrative arcs as “what made me realize how special the game was.”

In yet another post, Liu said that he’s hoping we get another Sleeping Dogs game. He says his “hope” is that he can get the movie made, which will lead to renewed interest in the IP, and then a new game will be made.

A Sleeping Dogs movie could be incredible, though, if it did ever happen. Hopefully Liu is able to finish what Yen started.
