South Seneca Central School District Superintendent Steve Parker Zielinski will step down from his position on March 7, 2025, marking the end of a distinguished 30-year career in the district. Zielinski, who has served as superintendent for the past twelve years, shared the news in a heartfelt letter to the South Seneca community, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to lead and serve in various capacities, including as a teacher and principal.
In his announcement, Zielinski noted that retirement will allow him to focus on his health and spend more time with his family. He reassured the community that he will work diligently over the coming months to ensure a smooth transition for his successor, as well as to continue addressing key initiatives, including the district’s facilities and energy plan.
Reflecting on his tenure, Zielinski highlighted the district’s transformation over the years, including significant updates to campus facilities, such as the construction of the track in 2017, and the expansion of student opportunities to meet the demands of the 21st century. He also praised the community for its unwavering support and resilience, particularly during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I’ve done my best every day I’ve been here to contribute to that effort myself, and I know South Seneca will continue to thrive under new leadership after I am gone,” Zielinski wrote. “South Seneca is special! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the chance to be part of our long history.”
Zielinski’s retirement marks the end of a long and dedicated service to the district, with the South Seneca community set to embark on a search for his successor in the coming months.
