According to Keighley, there were 154 million livestreams for the show, the most ever in the show’s 10-year run. It’s an incredible achievement, especially with the added context provided by a graphic that shows how The Game Awards grew since it’s debut show a decade ago, with only 1.9 million livestreams by comparison.
Not only did the show have record-breaking viewership, it was also the best received show in years. “We also achieved an A grade in our fan poll, which means so much to me and everyone who worked on this show,” said Keighley.
He added, “I don’t know how we will ever top this show, but lots more to come in 2025.”
And that last point is the most interesting one – of course it’s a great achievement that the show reached these heights this year, but how will next year fare in comparison? Will 2025 be the first year that there’s no growth at all, but in fact a decrease?
Probably not, but if that did happen, it would even further cement just how special this years show was. Cause you can bet that Naughty Dog won’t be back in 2025 with another brand new IP announcement.
