Finger Lakes CC tops St. John Fisher JV in high-scoring thriller

The

men’s basketball team secured a 101-93 victory over St. John Fisher University JV on Tuesday night, powered by stellar performances from newcomers Anthony Torres and Brian Whitley. The former Geneva High School teammates combined for 54 points, leading the Lakers to their second-highest scoring game of the season.

Torres was dominant in his debut, recording a triple-double with 40 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists while shooting 50% from the field. Whitley added a double-double, contributing 14 points and 10 rebounds, providing a strong presence in the paint.

Veteran Bruce Wilder Jr. added 18 points, including a clutch 8-for-9 performance from the free-throw line, while Kellen Foster chipped in 15 points and 3 rebounds. As a team, the Lakers shot 48.1% from the field and an impressive 75% from the free-throw line, a marked improvement over their season average.

Defensively, FLCC held off a late push from St. John Fisher, securing the win with strong rebounding and ball control in the final minutes.

The Lakers will look to build on this momentum as they begin a five-game homestand, starting Saturday, January 11, at 2 PM against Genesee Community College.
