Google is testing Audio Search in ‘Circle To Search’, reveals APK teardown

How to use “Audio Search” in Google’s Circle To Search?

Google has been adding multiple new features to Google Search. Back in June, the search giant’s default and stable version of the Google App had a new feature called “Circle To Search”. As the name suggests, users can simply circle an object in an image or video, and Google will attempt to offer more information about the same.

Google has now added “Audio Search” to Circle To Search. The Google App doesn’t have the feature yet, but it was reportedly discovered in an APK installer file by X (formerly Twitter) user Assemble Debug, and reported by Android Authority.

Available in the beta version 15.32.36 of the Google app, the Audi Search essentially allows Google to “listen” to the audio. It is interesting to note that the feature can not only help identify songs playing on the device, but it can also identify music that’s playing ambiently.

The Audio Search feature is reportedly so capable, it can spot songs being hummed. Using the feature starting Circle To Search. There’s a new button with a music note icon in the bottom-right corner beside the language option.

Tapping the new button starts a new “listening” overlay. Here. Google tries to listen to the audio content and subsequently searches for the same.

As users can initiate Circle To Search anywhere, the Audio Search could be performed in multiple apps. As the feature reportedly seems to be partially working, Google may release an updated version of the Google app soon.
