Milan dealt Rashford blow as Man United make decision on salary

Milan have been dealt another blow in their pursuit of England international Marcus Rashford, as Manchester United are currently unwilling to contribute to the player’s salary if he is allowed to leave on loan in January.

According to the latest updates from Sky Sport Italia, United are not currently willing to contribute to Rashford’s salary if he is allowed to leave Old Trafford on loan in January, although the situation is still subject to change.

That comes as a blow for Milan, who have been attempting to secure a deal for the 27-year-old in the January transfer window, but are unable to cover the full cost of Rashford’s wage packet.

Various outlets in Italy claim that the United academy graduate earns somewhere in the region of €13m per season, and that it would cost the Rossoneri around €7m in wages alone to bring the forward in on loan for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

Though United opened up to the idea of sending Rashford out on loan with an option to buy rather than an obligation, Milan had also been hoping that United would continue covering part of the player’s wages.

Also vying to secure a deal with United in January are Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona, both of whom have similar stances on the wage issue.
