Venezia warn Torino must pay to poach Vanoli

Paolo Vanoli took Venezia to promotion into Serie A, but wants to leave for a new role at Torino, so his club warned ‘whoever wants him must pay the release clause.’

The Lagunari secured their place in the top flight via the play-offs, beating Cremonese in the final to go up along with Parma and Como from Serie B.

However, Vanoli has been approached by Torino to replace Ivan Juric and wants that to be the next step in his career.

This was confirmed by Venezia President Duncan Niederauer, who warned the coach will not be allowed to leave quite so easily.

Venezia warn Vanoli cannot leave for free

“Vanoli has done an extraordinary job and we would like him to continue being our coach,” Niederauer told tuttoveneziasport.it.

“This has always been our intention, as I also said in the past. This afternoon, Vanoli’s agent communicated to us his desire to leave Venezia.

“We are sad to receive this news, because we wanted to continue our journey together. There is also a release clause to keep in mind, which requires the payment of a penalty that the club which wants to take on the services of our coach will have to pay.”

Vanoli turns 52 in August and joined Venezia in November 2022, with a contract that runs to June 2026.

His other roles were at Spartak Moscow, but spent most of his coaching career as an assistant manager to Gian Piero Ventura and Antonio Conte.

This included the Italy squad, Chelsea and Inter.
