Yankees clinch postseason berth with extra-inning victory over Mariners (highlights)

The New York Yankees (89-63) punched their ticket to the postseason with a 2-1 victory over the Seattle Mariners (77-75) in 10 innings on Wednesday night at T-Mobile Park.

Anthony Rizzo delivered a go-ahead RBI double in the 10th for the Yankees, who increased their lead in the American League East to five games over the Baltimore Orioles with 10 games remaining in the regular season.

This came after Clay Holmes blew his Major League-leading 13th save of the season, allowing a game-tying solo home run to Justin Turner in the eighth.

Rizzo also drove in the first run of the game with a run-scoring single in the second.

Nestor Cortes fired six shutout innings while scattering four hits and striking out six.
