Juan Soto’s first career 3-homer game lifts Yankees over White Sox (highlights)

Juan Soto recorded his first career three-homer game and drove in all four runs to lift the New York Yankees (71-50) to a 4-1 bounce-back victory over the Chicago White Sox (29-92) on Tuesday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Soto, who raised his season home run total to 33, hit opposite-field home runs in the third and fourth innings before crushing his third to right-center in the seventh. He is the second Yankee to hit three homers in a game this season, joining rookie Ben Rice (July 6).

Nestor Cortes turned in one of his best outings of the season, tossing seven shutout innings while scattering just three hits and striking out nine batters, tying his season high.

Mark Leiter Jr. surrendered the only White Sox run in the eighth inning when Luis Robert Jr. lined a two-out RBI single. The right-hander has a 4.91 ERA across eight appearances with New York.

Jake Cousins recorded his first Major League save after Tommy Kahnle couldn’t get the job done.

The Yankees look to take two of three from the White Sox on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m. Will Warren will make his third Major League start.
