Byrne Dairy outlines $120M expansion, promises nearly 300 new jobs

Byrne Dairy is set to expand its manufacturing facility in Cortlandville, with plans totaling $120 million in investment and nearly 300 new jobs over four phases of development.

Phase 2A, the next step in the project, will include 26,000 square feet of production space and three new stainless steel silos. Estimated at $10 million, the expansion will be completed within six months of approval and create six new jobs, increasing the facility’s workforce to 116 employees.

Phase 2B will bring significant changes to the site, including 74,650 square feet of additional production space, a new truck access road, and expanded employee parking with 277 spaces. The town plans to abandon Osbeck Circle to accommodate the growing facility. With a $24 million price tag, this phase is expected to create 84 jobs, boosting total employment to 200.

Phases 3 and 4 will add over 150,000 square feet of processing and batching space to the facility. Both phases depend on economic conditions but will be completed within 12 months of starting construction. Combined, they are projected to cost $86 million and create 194 jobs, bringing total employment at the site to 394.

The phased expansion underscores Byrne Dairy’s commitment to growth in Cortlandville, where it has been a major employer. Town approvals are pending for the project to proceed.
